One prescription safety glasses protects the eyes against the dangers of, for example, dust, abrasive particles and splinters and liquid splashes. The lenses of safety glasses are made of tempered glass or plastic and the frame is made of metal or plastic.

Safety glasses protect your eyes against two types of risks:

• Mechanical risks: dust, bumps, stings or objects such as splinters and chips.
• Chemical risks: solid or gaseous substances, splashes, droplets and mist.

Just as serious as a dangerous substance in your eye is a small solid particle, such as a splinter. Safety glasses protect your eyes from this painful and dangerous impact.

Wearing safety glasses is not only important when you are busy with risky activities yourself. You often don't know what's happening in your environment either, which is why it is mandatory in many places to wear safety glasses even if you are not busy with risky work yourself.

Your eyes are very vulnerable and can therefore be irreparably damaged. That is why it is wise to wear the safety glasses in any situation where you are at risk, both privately and for professional purposes. In the latter case, the employer even has the obligation to provide good safety glasses.
